The photo bug was biting real hard today. As you can see in the pics below, it's a beautiful sunny day here. There is not a cloud in the sky. In the morning, I took the long way to work, driving over the mountains through Califon and Oldwick. I stopped to take several photos with my 35mm along the way. By lunchtime, I couldn't sit in my cube any longer. I drove through Oldwick, took some turns down roads I'd never been on before. I found myself on dirt roads that you wouldn't think existed in this part of New Jersey. Here are the few photos that I took with the digital camera.

A new journal entry... "The Road." Read it to get the scoop on an old girlfriend.

It's always nice when I come across a way to use photos that I've taken in the past and have just been sitting around collecting dust. Above is the photo that I submitted to the World Taxxi Project. It was taken in January of 2003 on Route 78 East near Warren, New Jersey.

So, my girls flew back home on Saturday.

I took this photo of their plane as it was taking off. When I looked at it later, I noticed it gives off a creepy September 11th vibe. But no, those are not two towers that the plane is headed towards. They are reflections from the windows I was standing by in the airport.

As always, their time here went too fast. We crammed in as much as possible during the 10 days they were here. We saw the Scooby Doo 2 movie. We went to the mall and bought a betta fish and a hermit crab. We saw a few friends and relatives. We watched movies at home, made meals together, cleaned the house together (just a little). We had an Easter egg hunt on Good Friday. You can see the photos from that here. One of the last things we squeezed in was coloring Easter eggs. Here are several pictures of that event. Notice the nice begonia on the table. The emergency squad next to our house had a flower and bake sale this weekend. The kids bought the begonia for me. Her name is Emily. (Really. That's what the little tag says.)

My daughters have been here visiting for the past 10 days. Today they go home. Blah.

For the most recent Theme Thursday project, the girls and two of their friends helped me. They had a lot of fun. Here are some of the other photos we took while trying for a good one for the project. (If I get the time and, more importantly, the motivation to write, maybe I'll write about the girls' visit and put more photos on the site. For now there is a photo gallery, "Ice Cream at Sammy's," in the photography section.)

Let's start off a new month with more bird photos.

First, there has been a different looking heron hanging around at a nearby farm (the one with the llamas). I got a few pictures of it a few weeks ago. But I was not able to identify what type of heron it was. I email the photos to the Audubon Society for help in identifying it. Their response was that it is a young black-crowned night-heron.

The following birds were seen in our backyard.

A common redpoll...

Mourning dove...

House sparrow...

Song sparrow...

European starling...
